Laser Assisted Liposuction
As more men and women want to look and feel better about themselves, body contouring and liposculpture continue to grow in popularity, making liposuction the most popular cosmetic surgery performed today.
Smart Lipo vs CoolLipo: Smart Lipo was the first laser assisted lipolysis system, but as with all things, there are advancements in technology and medicine. Smart Lipo used a 1064nm wavelength. CoolLipo uses a 1320nm wavelength which is proven to have superior tissue tightening effects. Smart Lipo now uses the 1320nm wavelength.
CoolLipo™laser assisted lipolysis system offers a revolutionary and minimally invasive procedure for the removal of fat. Using a high powered laser, CoolLipo is a new Body Laser Sculpting procedure with less downtime and side effects than traditional liposuction - the best part is you are not "put to sleep" with general anesthesia.
How does the CoolLipo procedure work?
A very small cannula, or tube, aprroximately 1.0mm to 2.0mm in diameter containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser's energy to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis resulting in collagen shrinkage.
Due to the cannula's small size, CoolLipo is a minimally invasive procedure and can be performed under local anesthesia. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising, and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Because general anesthesia is unnecessary, the procedure is very safe with only minimal side effects.
Who is a good candidate for the CoolLipo procedure?
If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you are a candidate for CoolLipo. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the results.
